Dr. Bradley Rutherford

Dr. Joshua Jones is a fourth-year resident physician in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Calgary. As the PARA Ambassador to the Alberta Medical Association, he is tasked with facilitating the relationship between the two organizations and ensuring the resident physician voice is heard by the AMA on issues important to resident physicians. He is interested in the political and health system dynamics that give rise to these issues and is invested in strategizing how PARA can prepare and respond to them.

Dr. Nathan Rider is honoured to serve and represent resident physicians in Alberta. His focus is on resident physician wellness, governance and transparency. Dr. Rider brings policy expertise, stakeholder relations skills and governance experience from his previous career with the Government of Alberta and involvement with various non-profit organizations. He is currently training in Public Health and Preventive Medicine. In his spare time, Dr. Rider enjoys dancing and spending time in the mountains.

Kiersten loves creating pieces that showcase the stories of Alberta’s resident physicians. She does this by designing and writing PARA’s communications, publications and promotional materials, as well as maintaining the PARA website and managing PARA’s blog and social media channels. Kiersten is also the Staff Lead for the Leadership and Education Committee, where she helps plan and organize events such as Resident Physicians in the Legislature, Leadership Workshops and Transition to Practice.

Kiersten spends her time with her husband and two children and says that becoming a mom is her greatest adventure yet. She loves to travel, read and bake.

Dr. Brandon Christensen serves as the Calgary and Southern Alberta Ambassador (CSAA) and has extensive previous experience in student and resident physician governance, with a particular focus on improving the resident physician learning environment and teaching. Prior to joining the Executive Board, Brandon served one term on the PARA Assembly and three terms on the PARO General Assembly during his internal medicine residency. He is currently a PGY 5 in Infectious Diseases at the University of Calgary, where he serves as Lead/Chief Resident.
