Celebrating 50 Years of PARA
2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta (PARA). Since 1975, PARA has proudly represented resident physicians across Alberta; advocating for fair working conditions, supporting wellness and training and helping shape the future of health care in the province.
Resident physicians are a vital part of Alberta’s health system. They care for patients in every corner of the province, from large urban hospitals to rural and remote communities. Over the past five decades, PARA has worked to ensure their voices are heard, their work is valued and their experiences continue to improve.
This year, we’re honouring that legacy while looking ahead. Our 50th Anniversary is a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come, celebrate the impact resident physicians have made and build momentum for what’s next.
Throughout 2025/2026, we’ll be rolling out anniversary initiatives, giveaways, wellness activities, stories from across the years and more. We invite all members, alumni and partners to join us in marking this milestone and continuing to strengthen the residency experience in Alberta.
